Explore Teater Ekamatra's merEKA programmes, which are central to our mission of nurturing emerging talents and ensuring a diversity of thought and voices in the performing arts scene. As an ethnic minority theatre company, we understand the vital significance of elevating underrepresented voices and providing equitable opportunities for talented individuals to flourish. merEKA is a space for emerging talents and projects to get support, mentorship and resources to develop and actualise their work as well as create a more vibrant and diverse arts scene.
Scripts Development
The Scripts Development Programme aims to support aspiring, mid-career, and veteran playwrights from ethnic minority backgrounds by providing them with financial resources, mentorship, and a tailored development process to create full-length scripts. The programme culminates in a script presentation before a distinguished panel and an invited audience, solidifying our commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices within the arts. Past iterations of this programme have supported the development of playwrights such as Zizi Azah Abdul Majid, Zulfadli Rashid, Irfan Kasban, Johnny Jon Jon, and many more.
