Research Project: Fundraising in Ethnic Minority Performing Arts Companies in Singapore

Teater Ekamatra’s work to foreground underrepresented issues and stories from the margins extends beyond the stage. Through our research division, we lead and support research into the challenges faced by ethnic minority communities in the arts, creating space to examine issues that are often overlooked in wider conversations about the sector.

Our current research explores how funding, philanthropy, and access to resources shape the sustainability of ethnic minority performing arts companies in Singapore. It also looks internationally, examining approaches in the US, UK, and Australia that may offer useful lessons for Singapore.

Through this work, we hope to contribute research and practical recommendations towards a more equitable and sustainable arts sector.
