merEKA

Since the inception of the company, we have created spaces for people to learn, experiment, develop their practice and find their way into the arts. merEKA continues that work, giving participants the opportunity to learn from experienced practitioners, build their skills, explore ideas and create work of their own.

Our programmes are open to people at different stages of their journey, whether you’re just starting out, looking to build on an existing practice or simply curious to try something new. And they’re free of charge, because we believe that access to learning and artistic development should be open to everyone.

Over the years, artists who have come through Ekamatra’s development programmes have gone on to become writers, directors, actors, producers and arts practitioners in Singapore. Some came with years of experience, while others were simply looking for a place to begin.

Wherever you’re starting from, merEKA is a space to learn, make, experiment and see where it takes you.

Actors Development Programme

The Actors Development Programme offers space for performers at different stages to explore acting, movement and performance. Through practical training and creative experimentation, participants develop their performance skills, build confidence and explore different ways of working with the body, voice and imagination.

Acting 101 with Rizman Putra

Acting 101 is an introduction to acting for those who are new to the craft, offering a playful and creative way to explore performance, movement and expression.

Each session focuses on a different theme, inviting participants to experiment with the body, visual art, objects, texture, emotion and composition. The programme culminates in a final sharing that brings together the ideas and practices explored across the sessions.

Acting 201 with Rizman Putra

Acting 201 builds on the fundamentals of acting through a deeper exploration of movement, visual expression and embodied imagination. Designed for early-career actors, the programme invites participants to experiment with different approaches to contemporary performance while developing their creative instincts and stage presence. Each session offers a different framework for exploring the body, movement, visual expression and storytelling.
